This project was a collective effort created alongside ana burum, francesca danese, nika lazo and myself.
Developed as a group project for the Multimedia Communications 2 course, this mobile application was designed to redefine the tourist experience in Dubrovnik through the lens of universal accessibility. While the app serves as a comprehensive digital guide for all visitors, its core innovation lies in its inclusive character. It is specifically engineered to support individuals with physical disabilities, as well as those with visual impairments, ensuring that the historical beauty of Dubrovnik is accessible to everyone, regardless of their physical or sensory abilities.

The visual language of the app is deeply rooted in the identity of the city, with a color palette inspired by the historic Dubrovnik coat of arms. To ensure true inclusivity, all color choices were rigorously tested against WCAG standards, guaranteeing high contrast and readability for users with visual impairments. Furthermore, the illustrations and icons are original, custom-made assets, specifically designed to be intuitive and easily recognizable.
The user journey begins with an immediate choice of language, ensuring a frictionless start for both international and domestic tourists. The application organizes the city’s complex offerings into intuitive categories, including landmarks, accommodation, gastronomy, activities, and transport. Beyond basic information, the app features a specialized interactive map that serves as its most critical tool. This map provides tailored navigation routes, highlighting accessible paths while clearly marking physical barriers or limitations, which is an essential feature for users with mobility challenges or those navigating with strollers.
Personalization is at the heart of the user experience. The app allows visitors to save their preferred locations to a personalized map, enabling them to plan their journey before they even arrive. This proactive approach reduces the anxiety often associated with navigating a new environment. By integrating these accessibility standards with a modern interface, the project demonstrates how multimedia tools can ensure that the spirit of Dubrovnik can be explored by every visitor equally.
The accompanying video demonstrates the full user journey and the seamless integration of accessibility features within the app interface.
